SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Following Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s first budget address on Wednesday, state Rep. Theresa Mah, D-Chicago, issued the following statement:
“I look forward to working with Governor Pritzker to enact progressive changes to help recover from the damage our state sustained under Bruce Rauner. As we begin budget negotiations, I am committed to studying any proposal in full to ensure it benefits all residents of our state, including middle-class families, small business owners and our vibrant immigrant communities.
“In working together to craft a fair and balanced budget that protects access to critical social services, we also need to explore new revenue sources, like asking the wealthiest in Illinois to pay their fair share to help ease the tax burden on struggling families. This is an opportunity for all of us to move forward from the past, work together in good faith and put the needs of residents first.”
Mah is serving her second term representing the 2nd District, which includes the Chicago neighborhoods of McKinley Park, Pilsen, Chinatown, Bridgeport, Brighton Park and Back of the Yards. For more information, please contact Rep. Mah’s district office at 872-281-5775.
