SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Stephanie Kifowit, D-Oswego, issued the following statement Wednesday following Gov. Pritzker’s first budget address:
“Throughout my time in the House, I have consistently fought to protect access to services that Veterans, sick and elderly residents, and low-income families depend on for a reasonable quality of life. At the same time, I have worked to control government spending, reduce waste and ensure we are investing our finite resources in areas where it will have the greatest impact. That is the approach I plan to take once again this year. While Governor Pritzker and I will not always agree on every detail, we share a priority of working together to pass a fair, balanced and responsible budget.
“The budget plan we put together this year will determine the direction in which our state is headed. We have the opportunity to take a path toward recovery from the nearly three-year budget crisis to economic stability in Illinois. Today is the first step in the budget process.”
