Harper Welcomes Pritzker’s Pledge to Solve Illinois’ Financial Challenges and Invest in Our Communities

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Sonya Harper, D-Chicago, released the following statement Wednesday after Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s budget address:

“I look forward to working with Governor Pritzker and my colleagues in the Legislature to dig out of the mess Bruce Rauner created. Four years of crisis under Rauner’s leadership caused serious damage to our state, and we now must be just as serious about rebuilding our economy, our schools, and our communities.

“Governor Pritzker made it clear there will be tough choices ahead, but that he will work cooperatively with the Legislature to protect our most important state investments in order to adequately fund our schools, build safer communities, and offer job training and education to struggling families in our state.

“I look forward to working with the governor and my colleagues to address the challenges we face and to pass a budget that invests in our communities.”
