SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – With committee assignments focused on health care insurance, finance and economic opportunity, state Rep. Mark Walker, D-Arlington Heights, will advocate for working families and local businesses this General Assembly.
“It’s important that our state pushes ideas that can grow and develop small businesses,” Walker said. “Local businesses provide the economic engine that creates jobs and brings investment to our community. I’m excited to work on committees that will allow me to share the voice of my district as we craft legislation that can promote growth.”
Walker will serve on the House’s Economic Opportunity and Equity Committee, Financial Institutions Committee, Insurance Committee, and International Trade and Commerce Committee. In addition to handling economic matters, Walker will review proposals related to health care coverage within the Insurance Committee.
“There has been a lot of uncertainty in recent years on the federal level regarding health care insurance coverage,” Walker said. “It’s critically important that we are proactive with policy on the state level to ensure that individuals receive the care and coverage they need, regardless of politics in Washington.”
