DES PLAINES, Ill. – As residents at Blackhawk Estates await access to running water again, state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, has teamed up with state Sen. Laura Murphy, D-Des Plaines, Cook County Commissioner Kevin Morrison, the Illinois Beverage Association and Great Lakes Coca-Cola to deliver bottled water to families.
“While we need to take swift action to understand and correct the water issue impacting residents, our first priority is getting clean water to them,” Moylan said. “I’m thankful for the donations that have come from businesses and residents to help our neighbors out.”
Due to the extreme low temperatures that swept across the country last week, residents at Blackhawks Estates lost access to clean running water after local pipes froze and burst. A boil order is in effect for the community, which has begun to receive donations of bottled water to assist residents before service is safely resumed.
“Losing access to water is difficult at any time of year, but particularly so in the middle of winter,” Moylan said. “My office is ready to work with residents during and after this crisis to make sure they receive the resources they deserve.”
