SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Mary Edly-Allen, D-Libertyville, plans to advance her legislative priorities of enacting good government reforms and property tax relief as a member of a key House oversight committee.

“Our state’s broken property tax system and wasteful policies are forcing families out of their homes and out of the state,” Edly-Allen said. “It’s time to hold the line against unaffordable tax hikes and fee increases, and to promote good government reforms that will help local families hold onto their hard-earned money.”

Edly-Allen will serve on the State Government Administration Committee, which has historically been responsible for overseeing the passage of efforts to promote transparency, good government and tax relief. Edly-Allen will also fight to advocate for her priorities of standing up for women and their health, supporting commonsense gun safety and promoting environmental stewardship as a member of the Human Services, Mental Health, Energy & Environment and Elementary Secondary Education; School Curriculum & Policies committees.

“It’s a new day for Illinois as we work to move our state forward,” Edly-Allen said. “I look forward to working in bipartisan fashion to enact the positive change necessary to put our state back on track and advocate for the priorities of our community.”
