DES PLAINES, Ill. – State Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is supportive of Gov. JB Pritzker’s recent signing of an executive order securing a woman’s right to control her own reproductive health choices by requiring state agencies to include reproductive procedures in medical plans.
“I am a strong supporter of a woman’s right to quality health care choices and will always work to protect a woman’s right to choose,” Moylan said. “With last year’s passage of House Bill 40, which removed a dangerous trigger provision that could have outlawed abortion in Illinois, it sent a clear signal that our state values the right for women to control their own bodies.”
In addition to backing House Bill 40, Moylan supported House Bill 274 last session which would have regulated and expanded access to hormonal contraceptives. Moylan has also previously introduced legislation that would require employers to notify employees if any health care plan excluded coverage of contraceptives.
“I will continue to work with Gov. Pritzker and my colleagues in the General Assembly to fight for the rights of women,” Moylan said. “Women deserve a government that protects their health care choices.”
