Libertyville, Ill. – State Rep. Mary Edly-Allen, D-Libertyville is encouraging residents to submit ideas for potential new laws.
“Over 150 years ago, President Abraham Lincoln stressed the importance of a ‘government of the people, by the people, for the people’ and it is a guiding principle that our elected officials should strive to embody today,” Edly-Allen said. “Through the thousands of face-to-face conversations that I had with district residents over the past year, it is clear that people not only want change, but they want truly representative leadership. Issues such as women’s health, tax relief, responsible gun laws, environmental and health care protections are of paramount importance.”
In order to make state government more effective and transparent for local families, Edly-Allen is encouraging residents to submit their legislative ideas to her by emailing repedlyallen@gmail.com or calling her full-time constituent service office at 224-206-7647. Over the next few months, Edly-Allen will also be establishing a series of citizens’ advisory committees in a variety of different policy issues for constituents serve upon and recommend legislation.
“Our government is most effective when the needs of the people are addressed by the elected officials that represent them,” Edly-Allen said. “I look forward to working with local families and helping to identify solutions to the challenges we as a state and community face.”
