SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Upon taking the oath of office to serve in the Illinois General Assembly during today’s inauguration ceremony, state Rep. Lance Yednock, D-Ottawa, issued the following statement on his legislative priorities:

“Today helps mark a new day for Illinois Valley families and for the people of Illinois. I am very grateful and honored for the opportunity to serve the people of the 76th district, and to provide real representation for middle-class families in Illinois. After four years of a governor who failed the people of our state, we have a lot of work to do.

“I want to give constituents a voice in Springfield that they deserve, and that is a voice that will protect hard-working families’ jobs, wages, health care and other benefits they earned. One of my goals is to also ensure that we provide more state funding for our schools, so that every child has access to a quality education, and that we can look at more ways to provide property tax relief for middle-class families, our seniors and our veterans.

“There are a lot of tough decisions that are going to have to be made to help get our fiscal house in order after the previous governor continued to kick the can down the road, only adding more state debt and hurting the most vulnerable citizens in Illinois. I stand ready to work with my new colleagues of the General Assembly, on both sides of the aisle, to make decisions to help get our state onto a better track and provide a better future for the residents of Illinois.”

Yednock represents the 76th District, which includes all or parts of Bureau, LaSalle, Livingston and Putnam counties. For more information, please contact StateRepYednock@Gmail.com.
