SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Rep. Jehan Gordon-Booth, D-Peoria, released the following statement Wednesday after being sworn in for a new term:

“The past several years have been extremely difficult for people in Peoria and across the state. The next few weeks and months are our opportunity to begin to turn the page and get Illinois back on the right track.

“One of my goals for this session is to work on legislation that will bring economic development and good, high-paying jobs to the entire Peoria area by investing in our neighborhoods to make sure that no one in our community gets left behind. I also will be continuing my work to make expunging criminal records more accessible to people who are eligible and help give them a chance to build a better life for themselves and their family.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to continue serving as your state representative. I look forward to working with other Peoria-area legislators and the rest of my colleagues to strengthen our community and our state.”
