SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Deb Conroy, D-Villa Park, was sworn into the 101st General Assembly on Wednesday.
“The last few years have been extremely challenging for state government and I am hopeful that this upcoming year brings a new spirit of bipartisan cooperation and real solutions for our families.
“As the Chair of the House Mental Health Committee and an advocate for mental healthcare and addiction, I am eager to work with the new administration, my colleagues on both sides of the aisle, families, and healthcare advocates to improve mental healthcare awareness and hold insurance companies accountable. We have accomplished much to move the ball forward, including services for veterans suffering from PTSD, ensuring that school districts are our partner in mental health education, and increasing awareness of the importance of brain health. There is much work left to do and I remain inspired to continue this work by the families I meet every day.
“As the co-chair of the House Democratic Women’s Caucus, I’ll continue our work to give women a voice in state government and improve the lives of all women in Illinois. We have made great strides to make Illinois a leader in combating workplace harassment and discrimination, enacting some of the nation’s toughest laws against sexual harassment. We must continue this work to ensure that Illinois welcomes all – regardless of sex, gender or race. We can and must do better, and the House Democratic Women’s Caucus is leading the charge to make state government work for all of us.
“I am honored to have been given the opportunity to continue serving the residents of the 46th District and the community that I love. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to find reasonable, commonsense solutions to the challenges facing the state and our families. Together, we can move our state forward for the people of Illinois.”
