BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. – State Rep. Jonathan Carroll, D-Buffalo Grove, is inviting local religious leaders to offer an invocation before the Illinois House of Representatives during next year’s session in Springfield.
“I encourage any religious leaders interested in leading the House chamber in prayer to contact my office,” Carroll said. “The House of Representatives welcomes blessings and prayers from all religions.”
At the beginning of every legislative session day, a religious leader will offer a brief invocation to the House of Representatives. Representatives reserve invocations days on a first come, first-serve basis. With space limited, Carroll is asking religious leaders to register with him as soon as possible.
“Every year, I hope to highlight our community’s religious diversity in Springfield,” Carroll continued. “The invocation is a symbol of our commitment to that cause, and it provides members a moment to pause and reflect before debating on our most pressing issues.”
