CHICAGO, Ill. – Aiming to help people find a health care plan that works for them, state Rep. Sonya Harper, D-Chicago, is encouraging people to search the Affordable Care Act’s website to enroll in a plan before the next deadline.

“Everyone needs health care to live because at some point in our lives, we get sick,” said Harper. “Catastrophe can strike at any moment without warning, and it is critical that people find a plan to prevent them from going bankrupt following a medical emergency.”

Harper is highlighting the Affordable Care Act’s next deadline to enroll in a health care plan, which is Saturday, Dec. 15. Those seeking a coverage plan that fits their needs can go to www.healthcare.gov to search through available and affordable options. Alternatively, consumers can also contact representatives for assistance at 1-800-318-2596.

“We saw recently that Trump tried to remove critical protections like pre-existing condition coverage from law, which would have been devastating for middle and low-income families,” said Harper. “Fighting for affordable health insurance and allowing everyone the chance to buy in should be a priority for all of us.”

Harper represents the 6th District, which includes all or portions of Armour Square, Bridgeport, Chicago Lawn, Englewood, Gage Park, Back of the Yards, Canaryville, New City, West Englewood, Marquette Park, South Loop and River North.
