CHICAGO – To help kids stay active and learn valuable skills over the summer months, state Rep. Sonya M. Harper, D-Chicago, is encouraging local youth to apply for a summer job through the One Summer Chicago program.
“The One Summer Chicago youth jobs program is an invaluable opportunity that our city offers to young people each summer,” said Harper. “Learning good work habits now and gaining valuable skills pays off in the long run and helps set up Chicago’s youth for a lifetime of career success.”
One Summer Chicago brings together government institutions, community-based organizations and companies to offer over 31,000 employment and internship opportunities to youth and young adults ages 14 to 24. There is still room to apply for a summer-long job, and Harper wants to make sure every young adult have the opportunity to participate. People can apply for a job or internship by visiting http://www.onesummerchicago.org/SummerJobs/.
“The time to apply for a summer job is shortening, and space for job opportunities is limited,” said Harper. “The sooner anyone submits an application the better chances they’ll have to secure a great opportunity in a governmental or non-profit organization.”
