ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – State Rep. John Connor, D-Lockport, showed gratitude for local teachers this week by bringing baskets of classroom supplies and treats to public middle schools located within his district.

“Teachers dedicate themselves to enriching the lives of our children every day,” Connor said. “I was fortunate to have the privilege to be taught by amazing educators who helped me achieve my goals, and it’s important to recognize these leaders as they teach our children and our future.”

Beginning in 1985, Teacher Appreciation Week has become a national effort to recognize the hard work and dedication of educators across the country. This year, the week is being observed between May 6 and May 12, and Connor took the opportunity to visit and engage with members of the educator community. He also brought appreciation baskets that included teaching supplies and snacks for teachers.

“Teachers are some of the most valuable members of our community, and it’s important to show appreciation for all the hard work that they do,” Connor said. “I’m happy for the opportunity to show my gratitude during Teacher Appreciation Week.”
