BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. – In the days after legislative leaders in the General Assembly established the Legislative Public Safety Group, state Rep. Jonathan Carroll, D-Buffalo Grove, expressed his desire to begin work in this new role.

“I am humbled and honored to be entrusted with the confidence of the Democratic Caucus to be a member of this advisory group,” Carroll said. “Now more than ever, we must work together with local leaders and officials to develop strategies and recommendations that will ultimately make our schools and communities safer.”

Carroll’s appointment comes one week after Gov. Rauner advised legislative leaders in the House and Senate to appoint members to serve on the newly established Legislative Public Safety Group. The mission of this group is to engage with local law enforcement, fire agencies and community officials to pursue measures that will enhance public safety. The group will work to address subject matters pertaining to:

  • School Safety;
  • Mental Health;
  • Interstate Crime Prevention Network;
  • Repeat Gun Offenders;
  • Concentrated Crime Force Deployments; and
  • Economic Revitalization.

“Our communities are counting on us to deliver on comprehensive strategies that will provide additional safeguards to the public,” Carroll said. “As a member of the Legislative Public Safety Group, I will work tirelessly to fortify the safety and integrity of our community.”
