Rep. Welch Appointed to House Executive and Revenue & Finance Committees

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Upon review of credentials and precedent in the Illinois House, state Rep. Emanuel “Chris” Welch, D-Hillside, has been appointed to both the House Revenue & Finance Committee and the House Executive Committee.

“There is so much work to be done in the inner-workings of the General Assembly, including important appropriations and revenue generation that will fulfil our state’s financial obligations,” said Welch. “I am excited to be able to take on these new roles, knowing that we can move communities in our state forward by passing legislation that enacts common-sense changes to the way we handle incoming revenue.”

The House Executive Committee hears bills that make overarching changes to state law and administration, while the House Revenue and Finance Committee works closely with appropriation committees in order to bring revenue to the state’s coffers, ensuring that enacted laws are in the best interest of working families in Illinois. With these additions, Welch is taking on two new committees in addition to currently sitting on five House committees and five House subcommittees.

“As a member of two House Appropriations committees, I’ve been able to be at the table, helping with the hard work to ensure schools are high-functioning and have the tools on hand to provide a first-class education,” said Welch. “Moving forward, I believe I will be able to help advance even more state services through negotiations and compromise in both the Executive Committee and the Revenue & Finance Committee.”

State Rep. Emanuel “Chris” Welch currently is a member of the House Appropriations-Higher Education Committee, Appropriations-Elementary and Secondary Education Committee, Cities and Villages Committee and the Higher Education Committee.
