Hoffman: Governor’s Budget Address Inconsistent with Actions

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – In the moments following Governor Rauner’s budget address, state Rep. Jay Hoffman, D-Belleville released the following statement:

“We have heard the same message from Governor Rauner since he took office. And from that time, the governor has introduced three budgets full of phony accounting and delusional savings at the expense of middle-class, working families.

“His manufactured budget crisis has shaken our state to its core, slamming service providers across the state and rolling back lifesaving health care support to those in dire need of medical attention.

“Throughout Governor Rauner’s time in office, progress has only been achieved when the legislature agreed to work together without him. If the governor is sincere about getting our state back on track, he should place the interests of middle-class families above politics to move us on the right path.”
