SPRINGFIELD, IL– State Rep. Latoya Greenwood, D-East St. Louis, issued the following statement in response to the Governor’s budget address.
“I agree with the Governor on the need for balance budget in Illinois. We do not, however, need another budget littered with tricks and fake savings. We also do not need a budget that hurts ours state recovery after the governors 700 day, $16 billion in debt budget crisis.
“Illinois road to recovery was only solved last year when a bipartisan group of legislators put the interest of Illinois ahead of party politics. Hopefully Rauner will hold true to his words of compromise and cooperation this year instead of more political games.”
“It is past time Rauner come to the table as a reasonable leader. If he’s finally want to drop the empty words and be in charge for a change, our governor will find that House Democrats are willing to compromise. Because our state cannot afford another budget crisis.”
