JOLIET, Ill. – State Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, will host a Facebook Safety Seminar to provide local residents with safety tips while they are on Facebook and other forms of social media on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 6 p.m. at the Fountaindale Public Library, located at 300 W. Briarcliff Rd. in Bolingbrook.

“Every day there seems to be a new story about some of the dangers that social media can have on our lives,” Manley said. “This seminar will help residents learn more about how they can protect themselves and their families in a digital world.”

Manley, D-Joliet, will be joined by state Rep. John Connor, D-Lockport, and representatives from Facebook to provide residents with information on how to address cyberbullying, avoid scams and protect your identity while still enjoying the platform.

“I enjoy using social media to keep up to date with my family and friends, but I also try to stay up to date on scams and other pitfalls that may exist,” Manley said. “I encourage residents to come out to this seminar and have their questions answered.”
