JOLIET, Ill. – State Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, recently visited with 4th graders at Jefferson Elementary School in Joliet to answer questions from students and discuss the legislative process.
“I really enjoyed answering the insightful questions from these students,” Manley said. “With everything going on at the state and at federal levels, it is more important than ever for young students to learn about government and how it works.”
Manley was invited by Joliet School District 86 Academic Advisor BenQuila Lewis as part of their efforts to help students learn more about government. Manley was asked about legislation she passed, what she is currently working on in Springfield and why she enjoys being state representative.
“Our fourth graders researched the legislative process before Representative Manley came to read and answer questions about her experience as an elected official,” said Lewis. “This class has taken learning to a whole new level with the guidance of our teachers.”
