HILLSIDE, Ill. – State Rep. Emanuel “Chris” Welch, D-Hillside, and state Rep. LaShawn K. Ford, D-Chicago, are partnering to invite residents to a free “New Year, New You” health and fitness event on Saturday, Jan. 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lindop School, located at 2400 S. 18th Ave. in Broadview.
“There is no better way to start a new year than to participate in a fun and energetic work out,” Welch said. “We will have physical trainers on hand to help people stick with a workout plan that works best for them throughout the year.”
Welch and Ford are partnering with fitness coach Mike Harris and trainer Charles Robinson to help local residents create a workout plan to fit their needs. The trainers will provide participants a fun and easy way to stay fit, and will help in providing ways to stay committed to a diet and exercise plan throughout the year. All families are invited and welcome to participate at no expense to them.
“It’s always great when we can bring experts out to provide free professional services to our constituents. This program and activities will help teach people healthy life skills,” said Ford. “Having Healthy people in Illinois helps to make our communities healthier and cut the cost of medical expenses for employers and the state. It’s important for individuals to have health insurance, but it’s also important to know how to live a healthy lifestyle. We hope this event can be added value in the lives of all attendees.”
