JOLIET, Ill. – State Rep. Larry Walsh, Jr., D-Elwood, recently recognized St. Paul the Apostle’s baseball team on winning the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) 1A state title.

“I would like to congratulate St. Paul’s baseball team on winning the state title and bringing a winner back to Joliet,” Walsh said. “These kids have a lot to be proud of, and I wish them all future success in the years ahead both on and off the field. I also would like to congratulate the parents and coaches and thank them f or taking time to help mold these future leaders.”

Joliet’s St. Paul the Apostle’s baseball team, the Giants, capped a 19-1 season by winning the state championship over Monmouth’s Immaculate Conception School 15-0. The Giants were coached by Pat McGinnis, Mike Melone, and Brad Offerman. Members of St. Paul’s baseball team included Zach Bebar, Noah Benton, Max Buza, Jackson Cullen, Finnegan Eleveld, Jake Gahan, Will Gimbel, Martin Guzman, Grant Hertzmann, Jarron Hinchliffe, Brandon Kowall, Ryan Louthan, Cooper Ohlson, Graham Roesel, Jimmy Sharp, Jake Gimbel, and team manager, Catherine McGinnis.
