ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Joining officials from the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES) to announce the agency’s renewed onsite presence, state Rep. Mike Halpin, D-Rock Island, spoke at an open house at the Rock Island American Jobs Center Monday.

“I often hear from residents who are struggling to find work, and enabling job-seekers to access employment services in person will go a long way toward helping them get back on their feet,” Halpin said. “It’s great to see this expansion of services, as well as that the office will create 40 new jobs here in our community.”

The new Rock Island American Jobs Center was unveiled Monday, replacing a facility that closed four years ago. The center will allow customers to receive walk-in services for all programs administered by IDES, including unemployment insurance, and also features a call center that will serve job-seekers statewide. Residents are welcome to visit the facility at 500 42nd St. in Rock Island.
