MAYWOOD, Ill. – Over the weekend, state Rep. Emanuel “Chris” Welch, D-Hillside, partnered with retired state police officer Larry Lindenman for a Women’s Defense Seminar to provide area women with self-defense techniques.
“Violent crimes can happen to anyone at any time, without prior warning,” said Welch. “That is why it is important for anyone to be prepared to handle a potentially dangerous encounter with an assailant.”
Welch and Lindenman offered Maywood residents a Women’s Defense Seminar to demonstrate how to defend oneself during a potentially hostile encounter. Officer Lindenman holds this seminar regularly in an effort to help participants know how to properly react when a situation occurs. Over the course of this year, crime and violence in Maywood has increased, and Welch believes it is good to provide residents an opportunity to learn self-defense practices.
“I often host these events with local leaders and elected officials,” said Lindenman. “I am glad to partner with Rep. Welch to offer more people the opportunity the chance to handle a potentially violent or hostile environment.”
