BELLEVILLE, Ill. – State Rep. Jay Hoffman, D-Belleville, offered a free community shred day to residents on Saturday at Southwestern Illinois College.
“I’m glad that my office was able to help residents safely dispose of sensitive documents to protect themselves from falling victim to identity theft and fraud,” Hoffman said. “I would like to thank all the community members who stopped by, as well as Southwestern Illinois College for partnering with my office to bring this important service to local residents.”
Hoffman’s shred day gave local area residents the opportunity to safely dispose of various old, unneeded, or sensitive documents, like old tax returns, outdated health care records, old pay stubs and more. The event was held to help prevent identity theft by providing a safe method of destroying these sensitive records.
