Dear Editor,
With the current state of the economy, many people are struggling to find jobs and secure a steady income. To address high unemployment rates and help connect members of the community with local employers, I am partnering with Workforce Investment Solutions to host a free job fair on Wednesday, Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Decatur, located at 520 E. North St.
This event is free and open to the public. Local businesses and employment experts will be on hand to pass out applications, accept resumes, and provide additional information on programs for the unemployed and underemployed.
Prior to the fair, job-seekers are also encouraged to attend a “Tips for Attending a Job Fair” workshop on either Aug. 9 or Aug. 16 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Illinois workNet Center, located at 757 W. Pershing Road in Decatur. For more information about additional workshops, please call 217-875-8751.
Whether you or someone you know is unemployed, looking to change careers, or just curious about the opportunities available, I encourage you to come out and talk with the various organizations that will be present.
