Scherer to Host Free Job Fair in Decatur

DECATUR, Ill. – To help connect job-seekers with local employers, state Rep. Sue Scherer, D-Decatur,
is partnering with Workforce Investment Solutions to host a free job fair on Wednesday, Aug. 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Decatur.

“One of my top priorities as a state representative is helping connect job-seekers in our area with employment opportunities,” said Scherer. “I would encourage anyone who is unemployed, looking to change careers, or just curious about the opportunities available to attend this free job fair.”

This event is free and open to the public. Local businesses and other employment experts will be on hand to distribute applications, accept resumes and provide additional information on programs for the unemployed and underemployed. With many employers already registered, space is filling up fast. Businesses still wishing to have a booth at the fair should contact Workforce Investment Solutions at 217 875-8753 as soon as possible.

Prior to the fair, job-seekers are encouraged to attend a “Tips for Attending a Job Fair” workshop on either Aug. 9 or Aug. 16 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Illinois workNet Center, located at 757 W.
