ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. – State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, the sponsor of property tax freeze legislation, is reminding residents about his upcoming seminar on the property appeal process on Wednesday, July 19 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Avon Township Center located at 433 E. Washington St. in Round Lake.
“This important seminar will include a review of what each item on your blue card means, help you understand which exemptions you are eligible to apply for and how to appeal your assessments to reduce your property tax burden,” Yingling said. “This seminar will empower homeowners to have a better understating of the tax process and learn how to save more of their hard earned dollars.”
Attendees will learn about the factors that determine how their properties are assessed, what each line item on their bill means and how to appeal their taxes. Residents will also receive a brief legislative update from Yingling on his efforts to reduce property taxes and have a chance to have their questions and concerns addressed.
Yingling’s event will be held in partnership with Avon Township Assessor Chris Ditton. It is free and open to the public. RSVPs are not necessary but they are appreciated. For more information or to RSVP, residents can call Yingling’s office at 847-231-6262 or email him at RepSamYingling@gmail.com.
“In Springfield, I supported legislation to not only freeze your property taxes, but to go further and actually reduce property taxes for every homeowner,” Yingling added. “Lake County residents pay far too much in property taxes, and I will not stop fighting for meaningful property tax relief that helps families stay in their homes.”
