SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, made the following statement in response to the passage of the first part of a tentative budget deal Friday:

“While nothing can turn back time and undo the 730 days of damage Governor Rauner’s failure to do his job, today, today’s development towards an agreement on a full-year budget was a positive step for Illinois. Rank-and-file members of the house proved that we can work across the aisle in a bi-partisan manner, but additional work remains to get a balanced budget on the governor’s desk and deliver property tax relief for homeowners.

“The House will remain in session, and I will continue to urge cooperation between my colleagues on both sides of the aisle.

“In light of this bipartisan budget agreement, and the work that still remains, I hope Governor Rauner will refrain from again taking steps to derail this delicate progress.”
