SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Elizabeth “Lisa” Hernandez, D-Cicero, issued the following statement on Friday as budget negotiations to end Gov. Rauner’s two-year long budget stalemate continue throughout the weekend:
“While House Democrats and Republicans agreed on a budget framework today, there is still much more work to be done. We are close to finding a resolution to this budget impasse, and I will continue working throughout the weekend with all of my colleagues to finalize the budget’s details.
“House Democrats have prepared a balanced budget that cuts nearly $3 billion in spending, while also investing our limited resources to fund our schools and the services that help families succeed. I urge the governor to continue working with us in good faith, and hope that he does not derail the work that is being done.”
State Rep. Elizabeth “Lisa” Hernandez is a member of the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus and represents the 24th District, which includes Cicero, Little Village, Berwyn, Brookfield, Riverside, and Stickney.
