COLLINSVILLE, Ill. – State Rep. Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, is hosting a free Document Shred Event on Saturday, July 15 from 9 a.m. to noon at the YMCA Meyer Center, located at 7348 Goshen Rd. in Edwardsville.
“My document shredding event gives local residents a free opportunity to safely and securely dispose of important papers that contain their personal information,” Stuart said. “Most of us have old, unneeded documents like old credit card statements, bank statements, medical records, pay stubs and bills. Shredding these documents is a simple way to protect against identity theft.”
Stuart’s event is open to the public and free of charge. Residents should remove all paperclips, staples and other binding prior to the event and will be limited to two boxes of paper each. Boxes cannot be shredded. Attendees will be helped on a first come, first serve basis until the shred truck reaches capacity.
“Bringing free events like this to the community is one way that I can reach out to residents and provide valuable services,” Stuart added. “All of my events are free and open to the public, and I hope that residents will take advantage of this opportunity.”
