COLLINSVILLE, Ill. –State Rep. Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, will host a series of discussions with community members at local coffee shops in order to gain insight on residents’ thoughts on issues such as tax relief efforts, the state budget and other pressing issues facing the State of Illinois.

“I am proud of the work I’ve done, including a bi-partisan measure to provide property tax reform, but I am frustrated that there is much to be accomplished in terms of finding a solution to balancing our budget and getting Illinois’ fiscal house in order. It is important that I remain in touch with constituents and provide opportunities for them to share their ideas with me on how the state can and should move forward,” said Stuart. “I will continue to host informal coffee meetings and Citizens Advisory Committees, in addition to meeting people at their doorsteps, to make sure anyone who wants to talk to me has the opportunity.”

With the General Assembly in continuous session during the summer, Stuart’s community discussions at local coffee shops will provide residents a chance to meet with Stuart and enable them to learn more about ongoing budget related matters, tax relief proposals and other matters as legislators discuss them in Springfield. Stuart’s events are free and open to the public.
