SPRINGFIELD, IL – Earlier this week, state Rep. Jehan Gordon-Booth, D-Peoria, welcomed President of the Peoria Branch of the NAACP Donald Jackson to Springfield to congratulate him on his retirement and thank him for his service to the community.
“Donald Jackson is a pillar and a legend in our community,” Gordon-Booth said. “For over 40 years as a lawyer in Peoria he helped people facing discrimination, retaliation and hostility in the workplace, while also serving as a public defender. As the president of the NAACP for over 20 years, Mr. Jackson helped make Peoria a better place for all people to live and work. I would like to thank him for all that he has done for our community and offer him and his family the very best in his retirement.”
Jackson was recognized on the floor of the House of Representatives and was presented with an official copy of House Resolution 403.
