CHICAGO – Last week, state Rep. Sonya Harper, D-Chicago, met with neighborhood residents to listen to their concerns regarding federal, state and local issues during her satellite office hours meeting.

“I am grateful that residents spent time with me to discuss city and state issues,” Harper said. “Many of the issues that came up were the state budget, local property taxes and actions Chicago can take with President Trump occupying the White House.”

At the 11th Ward Constituent Services Office, Harper met with local residents and discussed important issues and concerns that many Chicago residents continue to voice. Much of the conversations between residents and the elected officials revolved around the struggles that state service providers, public colleges and community college systems are facing due to the state’s budget impasse. Harper intends to hold future office hours, and encourages all residents to participate.
“I look forward to the many more opportunities I will have with other local elected officials to bring news and updates to residents,” said Harper. “I want to bring accountability and transparency to those we serve. My next meeting will take place Monday, June 19th from 5 to 6:30 p.m at the 11th Ward office located at 3659 S. Halsted St., Chicago.”
