EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – State Rep. Katie Stuart, D-Edwardsville, joined Edwardsville police officers on Jan. 23 for a day on the job. She was able to ride along with officers, see the community and discuss important issues facing community policing in Edwardsville.

“I have tremendous respect for our men and women in blue, and I appreciate the job they do to keep us safe and build relationships within our community,” Stuart said. “I learned a lot about the job of our officers during my ride along, and I am excited to take that perspective with me back to Springfield.”

Stuart discussed important issues facing Edwardsville and learned about efforts police are taking to be more engaged with the community to better serve and protect them.

“It is important that our community and the men and women that are sworn to protect them have a positive relationship and communication,” Stuart said. “We are stronger as a community when we are able to work together to solve our problems. I am working to do that in Springfield and within our community.”
