SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, issued the following statement in response to Gov. Bruce Rauner’s State of the State Address:
“The last two years have been extremely difficult for Illinois. The lack of a state budget has jeopardized the services of our most vulnerable residents and has made it more difficult for small businesses to thrive. We need to quickly pass a fair and balanced budget without raising taxes on working families.
“I am ready to work with the governor on passing sensible reforms that create jobs without hurting the middle-class. I agree with the governor on the need to provide homeowners in my district with property tax relief and I have voted for workers’ compensation reform that protects Illinois workers and ensures savings are passed onto businesses.
“Instead of slashing protections for hardworking families, we can create jobs and grow the economy by cutting taxes for small businesses, investing in education, and cracking down on corporations that ship jobs overseas. I am urging the governor to return to the negotiating table and join me and my colleagues on working to make Illinois a better place to live and work in.”
