DES PLAINES, Ill. – With a focus on improving Illinois’ business climate and protecting middle-class families, state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, announced his support for sweeping economic reforms.
“For far too long, many families in my district have struggled to make ends meet,” said Moylan. “The aggressive economic reforms I support will create a stronger Illinois by encouraging job creation, investing in education, and raising incomes.”
Moylan’s economic reform proposals would work to foster job creation and improve Illinois’ business climate, while protecting middle-class families. Moylan’s reforms would include reducing taxes on businesses by 50 percent, increasing the minimum wage, expanding the Earned Income Tax Credit, investing millions of dollars into education, and reinstating the EDGE tax credit for businesses that create jobs. To support these reforms, Moylan is pushing to crack down on corporations that ship jobs overseas by passing legislation outlawing any future tax incentives for these businesses. He will also push for a reforming the corporate tax structure to ensure all businesses pay their fair share. Education funding would be increased by creating a small surcharge on incomes greater than one million dollars to ease the burden on the middle-class.
“Tax incentives should be used to invest in small businesses and families here in Illinois, not multi-million dollar corporations overseas,” Moylan said. “The families I represent deserve to have relief and I intend to fight for these reforms throughout the upcoming session.”
