DECATUR, Ill. – Participating in Random Act of Kindness Week, state Rep. Sue Scherer, D-Decatur, helped prepare and serve meals to patrons at the Good Samaritan Inn in Decatur on Wednesday.

“In this bitterly cold weather, it is particularly important to think of the needs of vulnerable residents and to lend a hand to organizations doing great work to help,” said Scherer. “I am grateful to the Good Samaritan Inn for providing hot meals to those who would otherwise go hungry, and I appreciated the opportunity to work alongside their dedicated staff, volunteers, and patrons yesterday.”

Scherer worked as part of a bipartisan effort earlier this year to designate Dec. 11 through 17, 2016 as “Random Act of Kindness Week” in the state of Illinois. Throughout the week, she is visiting organizations that serve the less fortunate to assist and thank their dedicated staff members and volunteers as well as to draw attention to the needs of local families.
