ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill.—After lawmakers voted to raise utility rates on Illinoisans and high tailed it back to their local district offices, state Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, issued the following statement Wednesday regarding his opposition to the measure:
“I am deeply frustrated by the General Assembly’s inability to tackle some of Illinois’ most pressing issues, such as the budget and property tax relief, while finding the time to increase utility rates on consumers.
Illinois families must not continue to be nickeled and dimed. They must not bail out corporate interests or fall victim to Springfield insiders’ agendas. I am proud to have voted against Senate Bill 2418 and ashamed that it passed.
I remain committed to fighting for all Illinois families and building upon my work that protects consumers in the years ahead.”
