ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – As lawmakers prepare to return back to Springfield for the new spring legislative session, state Rep. John Connor, D-Lockport, is inviting local leaders of the faith community to lead the House in prayer.

“Every day in the House is opened with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, and the prayer is led by a faith leader from a different part of the state every day,” said Connor. “These are rituals that I appreciate, as they remind legislators of our solemn duty to serve the people of our districts and the entire state of Illinois with compassion and responsibility.”

Connor encourages religious leaders of all faiths to participate in leading the invocation in Springfield. Faith leaders interested in delivering the invocation in Springfield are encouraged to reach out to Connor’s full-time constituent office at 815-372-0085 or email repconnor@gmail.com.

“As leaders in our community, I want to give members of the faith community in my district the opportunity to open the House session with sentiments of good faith as we continue to serve the people of Illinois,” Connor said. “And as I continue to represent the 85th district in Springfield, it is my priority to work closely with all community leaders to positively engage people as a force for positive and constructive change.”
