HILLSIDE, Ill. – State Rep. Emanuel “Chris” Welch, D-Hillside, is encouraging residents to submit new ideas for legislation for the upcoming General Assembly session next month. Welch plans on taking these ideas to file new potential laws for Illinois.

“It is important to remember that citizens need to be a part of the democratic process, and I seek their advice on ideas often,” Welch said. “That is why I want to offer residents of the 7th district the opportunity to submit any ideas for new legislation.”

As the 2018 General Assembly session approaches, Welch will be filing new bills and legislation to create new laws for Illinois. Welch is seeking community and resident input on his legislative drafts in an effort to engage people and educate them on how a bill becomes law. Residents whose bills become legislation will have the opportunity to testify on their idea and why it should become law in Illinois.

“I look forward to the ideas that will cross my desk, and the chance to review them with residents,” Welch said. “We are all in this together, and people should know that their government is listening to them and their needs.”
