JOLIET, Ill. – State Rep. Natalie Manley, D-Joliet, recently attended the second annual Troy Township Senior Fair, providing an update to seniors about the work she is doing on their behalf in Springfield.

“Regardless of the issues that legislators in Springfield may have, we all agree that helping our seniors remains one of our biggest priorities,” Manley said. “This year, I supported efforts to increase property tax exemptions for seniors, and fought to protect funding for vital programs for seniors, including Meals on Wheels and home health care. This year, the state also fully implemented legislation I sponsored to create an Amber Alert type system for people with dementia.”

Manley discussed the newly created “Silver Search” system, which aims to return lost loved ones with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other impairments to their families by coordinating law enforcement and the public. The system went live this past November, and is utilizing electronic highway signs, digital lottery terminals and other forms of communication to spread the word about missing individuals.
