DECATUR, Ill. – State Rep. Sue Scherer, D-Decatur, is highlighting the art work of local students throughout her district who had the opportunity to display their paintings and poster designs in the Capitol.

“I am amazed at the creativity and talent from student throughout my district and their ability to craft such unique ideas,” Scherer said. “Giving our students the opportunity to display their artwork in our state’s Capitol recognizes the hard work and time they put into their posters and paintings and allows them to be proud of what they created.”

Throughout the week students various high schools in Scherer’s district including Eisenhower High School in Decatur and Springfield High School were given the opportunity to display their poster designs and paintings in the Capitol. Students’ art work were inspired by patriotisms and other creative ideas with paintings of the American flag and Abraham Lincoln. Scherer is encouraging those interested in viewing other artwork from local students to visit her Facebook page www.facebook.com/staterepsue.
