Yingling Stresses Importance of Purchasing Safe Toys

ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. – State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, is highlighting the importance of buying safe toys and products this holiday season.

“I want to provide residents a great resource highlighting toys and common products that may be dangerous to our families,” Yingling said. “Shoppers can avoid hazardous products by reviewing a few quick safety tips.”

Yingling is directing consumers to Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s annual “Safe Shopping Guide”. The guide, available at IllinoisAttorneyGeneral.gov, lists all toys recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, which estimates hazardous products have caused at least 256,000 injuries in the past four years. Yingling also recommends that parents review ToySafetyTips.org.

“Big corporations often don’t provide us the reality during their multi-million dollar marketing campaigns,” Yingling continued. “That’s why my office will continue to provide professional, unbiased resources, like the annual Safe Shopping Guide, that have the ability to save lives.”
