ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – State Rep. Mike Halpin, D-Rock Island, is encouraging local residents, community organizations and business leaders to reach out to his office and provide their ideas for legislation they would like to see introduced in Springfield.

“During my first year in office, I worked hard to ensure that the legislation I sponsored and supported addressed my constituents’ concerns, from providing tax credits to employers that create jobs here in Illinois to cracking down on sexual harassment and crimes against children,” said Halpin. “I appreciate every opportunity to hear from area residents about how we can improve our community, and I welcome their suggestions on legislative ideas.”

The Illinois General Assembly will reconvene for the spring session beginning in January. Halpin is asking constituents that have ideas for possible future laws to share their thoughts with him by contacting his constituent service office at 309-558-3612 or by emailing RepHalpin@gmail.com.

“Every year, new laws take effect that originated from individuals, students and organizations identifying a problem and a way to fix it,” said Halpin. “I want the families I represent to know that I will take their ideas and opinions under serious consideration when drafting new legislation this coming session.”
