ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – State Rep. John Connor, D-Lockport, visited Aryzta recently to view a modern bakery operation that employs hundreds of workers in Romeoville.

“Aryzta has an impressive record of sustainability and safety at the facility, with over 391 safe days in a row as of my visit,” Connor said. “This is a large employer in our area, and it was great to speak to their leadership and learn about their operation.”

Leading Connor’s tour was Aryzta President of U.S. Consumer Foods Andrew Brimacombe, who showed the day-to-day operations of the facility and discussed some of the political issues the business faces in Illinois. Along the visit, Connor got to witness some of the modern equipment that Aryzta uses, including a hydrogen-fuel powered forklift that is used to handle the company’s extensive refrigerated shelving system.

“It’s critically important that Illinois focuses on attracting and retaining businesses like Aryzta that employ hundreds and invest in our community,” Connor said. “This is an important company that stocks the shelves of our local grocery stores, and it’s great to know that those products are being made by hard-working individuals right here in Romeoville.”
