Belleville, Ill. – To connect residents with cash-saving tips to save money on their utility and phone bills, state Rep. Jay Hoffman, D-Swansea, and the Citizens Utility Board (CUB) are partnering to host a free Utility Bill Clinic on Wednesday, October 4 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the PSOP Senior Center, located at 201 N. Church St. in Belleville.

“Over time, small savings each month can add up and help make the difference in being able to afford unexpected costs,” Hoffman said. “A few dollars saved here and there can be especially important for senior citizens who are living on a fixed income.”

Hoffman will be bringing in experts from CUB, a nonprofit organization dedicated to representing the interests of residential utility consumers across the state, to help consumers save money. Since its inception, CUB has saved consumers more than $10 billion by blocking rate hikes and winning consumer refunds.

Attendees should bring their gas, electric, and phone bills to the event. A staff person from CUB will give each attendee a free, one-on-one consultation to identify areas of potential savings.

“I would like to thank the Citizen’s Utility Board for coming out to lend a helping hand to members of our community,” Hoffman said. “I encourage any resident that is interested in identifying ways they can save on their utility bills to stop by.”
