CHICAGO – With the annual flu season rapidly approaching, state Rep. John D’Amico, D-Chicago, is sponsoring a free flu shot clinic for residents on Friday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at his constituent service office, located at 4404 W. Lawrence in Chicago.

“No one has the time to get sick, especially with something as tough and potentially life-threatening as the flu,” said D’Amico. “It is my hope that by offering this free flu shot clinic at a convenient neighborhood location, residents will be able to save time and money. I encourage everyone to take the initiative to prevent themselves and their family from getting sick this flu season by receiving a free flu vaccination at my constituent office.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggests that every person six months and older receive a flu vaccine to prevent the flu from spreading, in addition to preventing serious complications in those classified as “high-risk individuals.” High-risk individuals include children under five, seniors 65 and above, pregnant women and anyone with a chronic respiratory illness such as asthma, bronchitis or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

“For many families it can be tough to make time in their busy schedules to visit a doctor or clinic to receive their flu shot,” D’Amico continued. “But the little time and money invested in preventing the flu has major payoffs in saved time and money by not missing work, school or other important priorities later in the year when the flu season hits its peak.”
