AURORA, Ill. – Through a partnership with East Aurora High School and local business owners, state Rep. Linda Chapa LaVia, D-Aurora, will start an internship program for junior and senior high school students next Wednesday to give upperclassmen an opportunity to work with companies and nonprofit organizations in Aurora.
“By providing internship opportunities to students, we are allowing them to realize their potential and explore possible career paths,” Chapa LaVia said. “Students who participate will be able to develop valuable skill sets and hopefully discover what they want to do in the future.”
Students and local business owners will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 20, to discuss the application process and any other details that need to be worked out between the business owner and intern. Chapa LaVia hopes that each internship will run until the end of the school year.
